To ensure years of trouble-free use of your spa we recommend the following: - Maintain good water chemistry. You will need to use a sanitiser and a means of controlling the pH (a measure of the waters acidity). Water should be tested at least once every 2 day.
- In order to sanitise the spa water it is necessary to kill the bacteria and oxide the impurities. Barrier Reef Spas use an ozone generator as the oxidiser, which allows the sanitiser to handle the sanitation exclusively.
- It is vitally important to drain the spa water after 4 - 6 weeks of use, as impurities can build up and the only effective way to remove them is to drain the water and replenish. The Health and Safety Executive specifically recommend that water changes occur every 4 - 6 weeks.
- The spa is generally self cleaning, however once drained a quick wipe round with a soft cloth will get rid of any water line.
- Covers should be cleaned thoroughly at least twice a year.
- Heavy objects placed on top of your cover can cause it to become deformed or damaged, thereby reducing it's life considerably.
- Wooden cabinet- Barrier Reef Spas recommend the use of a non varnishing, outdoor furniture oil to be applied to the Canadian Western Red Cedar finish on the spa to stop the wood from drying out or absorbing excessive moisture. This should be done once every 3 months or more if in extremely harsh conditions.
Note: Always test the oil in a non conspicuous area prior to applying to visible areas.
